Aline Gaju

Executive & Program Coordinator

Aline Gaju is the Executive & Program Coordinator at Ubuntu Center for Peace (UCP), where she works closely with the Executive Director to strengthen strategic operations, donor engagement, and program delivery. In this role, she manages executive workflows, coordinates community-based healing programs, and supports the documentation of UCP’s evidence-based model for trauma recovery and peacebuilding.

Aline brings a strong background in communications, program coordination, and partnership building across Africa, North America, and Europe. Before joining UCP, she served as Forums Coordinator at Free the Slaves, where she coordinated international forums on combating human trafficking across six continents, working closely with survivors, donors, and civil society to foster inclusive and trauma-informed engagement.

She also worked with the Legal Aid Forum Rwanda, where she organized community-based legal awareness campaigns such as Know Your Rights, and managed organizational communications.

Aline is committed to building lasting peace in conflict and post-conflict societies. She believes that peace is only sustainable when its foundation is laid in the healing of individuals. She believes that by addressing the roots of trauma, people are empowered to sustain peace in their homes, communities, and ultimately, their countries. Aline holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Lit and Media Studies from St. Olaf College (USA)
