Strengthening Local Roots: Building Cohesion and Community Partnerships
This year, the Ubuntu Center for Peace strengthened its foundations both inside and out.
At a leadership retreat themed “Enhancing Healing & Collective Vision for Scaling Impact” in April 2025, board members and staff engaged in breath-body-mind practices, emotional anatomy exercises, and conscious leadership exploration. The retreat fostered personal and collective healing, aligned the team on a shared vision, and refined the roadmap for scaling the Ubuntu model to reach even more lives.
Beyond the organization, we connected with local partners at the Segal Family Foundation Community Mixer held at The Hut Restaurant and Boutique Hotel in Kigali. The evening offered a space for partners to learn from each other, share best practices, and celebrate the collective impact of their work. A fireside chat on strategy and fundraising highlighted emerging trends in nonprofit sustainability, collaboration, and adaptive leadership in an evolving funding landscape.
For Ubuntu, this gathering was a valuable opportunity to strengthen relationships with fellow changemakers, learn from peer organizations, and reflect on intersecting missions. As an organization rooted in community healing and resilience, we are grateful for the Segal Family Foundation’s ongoing support in cultivating a vibrant ecosystem of like-minded organizations. Events like this reinforce that collaboration is the pathway to greater impact.
